Yachego is a new two-player competitive abstract game. Playtesters have said it is like Checkers or Go, but with dice. It is suitable for all ages and takes five minutes to learn and between 15 and 30 minutes to play.
I am a writer and game designer with several projects on the go. Yachego is almost ready to prototype and publish and I am looking forward to any feedback at the event. Other projects include writing fantasy fiction, RPG modules and also working on a fantasy advent calendar.

Concordia Venus is a peaceful strategy game of economic development in Ancient Rome. Colonists are sent out to settle down in cities that produce bricks, food, tools, wine, and cloth. Each player starts with an identical set of playing cards and acquires more cards during the game. These cards allow a player to choose actions during the game and are also worth victory points. Concordia is a medium-weight strategy game that requires advance planning and consideration of your opponent's moves.
Tend to one of four farms in the village of Esporles, Majorca in the resource-management, dice-drafting game La Granja! Build up your farm, produce goods, and send out your delivery donkeys to establish your presence in the island's growing market and beat out your opponents! Open to all experience levels - I am willing to teach the game to any players looking to try it. Depending on the experience levels of the players at the table, we may or may not play with some of the expansion components as well. If there are any new players, we'll likely play the base game (or only add in components that increase the card and roof tile pool).

Join us for a Battletech Grinder event, an event which historically is the most popular Battletech event the Catalyst Demo Team runs at GenCon, Origins and many other conventions around the world.
The Battletech Grinder is a casual all-day event and is great for all ability levels where players only pilot one mech at a time. Due to the nature of the event, players can join in, or drop out at any time without disrupting the event, so if you only want to play for a couple of hours and then move on to something else, it's not an issue.
The general idea of the Grinder is that players start with a simple, randomly-assigned small mech that uses basic weapons and rules in a free-for-all style gladiatorial match of Battlemech mayhem. When their mech is destroyed they get randomly-assigned a bigger, better mech that has slightly more complicated weapons and rules, which help ramp the player's learning of the rules and tactics of Battletech in a manageable way, and then thrown back into the carnage! This way new players are introduced to the vast rules of tabletop Battletech over time. Once a player has advanced to the highest class of mech, should they get destroyed again, they start the cycle all over again with a new randomly-assigned basic mech, continuing on in the never-ending slaughterfest.
All supplies will be provided by the Catalyst Demo Team, including miniatures, maps/terrain, dice, record sheets and pencils.
Game of Thrones: The Card Game is a two-player asymmetric card game, where you play as your favourite GOT house, drafting characters and revealing plots to win challenges, gain power and defeat your opponent, while trying to keep your characters alive for one more round.
We’ll be playing Joust, the two-player version, and Second Edition.
The game is played over a series of head-to-head rounds, where you’ll draft and recruit characters, reveal plot cards, and then attack and defend a series of challenges until one person is declared the victor. It’s a strategy-heavy game, where your resource economy is pretty low, so every choice you make can win or lose the game.
This session is open to all experience levels. If you’re a GOT master, amazing! If you’ve never played before, even better! The mechanics are pretty simple (it’s choosing what to do with your cards that’s the hard part), and if you’ve ever played an asymmetrical card game like Magic before, you’ll pick it up in no time.
GOT Card Game is also a LCG, so building your deck outside of gameplay is a big part of the fun once you’ve got the hang of it. So feel free to bring your own deck if you have one, or you can use one of our 8 pre-built house decks and give it a go.
Writer, gamer, cosplayer, nerd- who loves DnD, Thousand Year Old Vampire, and reading stupidly long rule books while organising board game pieces into little bags :)
You are bird enthusiasts—researchers, bird watchers, ornithologists, and collectors—seeking to discover and attract the best birds to your network of wildlife preserves. Each bird extends a chain of powerful combinations in one of your habitats (actions).
Sail the Seas of Havoc with one of the game's designers! Get a sneak peek at the expansion crowdfunding in April! In Seas of Havoc players use worker placement and deckbuilding to supply, upgrade and maneuver their ships in fierce naval skirmishes. Expect tactics and strategy, but also expect a lot or ramming and cannon firing. Designed in Vancouver and shown at several TCTC proto alleys, Seas of Havoc went on to a successful crowdfunding campaign, several awards and a great critical response. This is a play-to-win session: a random participant will receive a deluxe edition of the game.
Arcs is a sharp, tactical space opera game, for 2–4 players, set in a dark yet silly universe. Players represent officials from a distant, decaying and neglectful Empire who are now free to vie for dominance whether through battle, gathering scarce resources or diplomatic intrigue. Ready yourself for dramatic twists and turns as you launch into this galactic struggle.
A deck of cards in 4 suits with ranks from 1-7 (2-6 for less than 4 players) defines the action selection system. These cards are played in a trick-taking adjacent system to select actions, take the initiative and declare Ambitions. The 3 declared Ambitions are what will score in that deal. Timing is everything. Bad hands must be mitigated by careful card play and benefitting from other players' card play.
Battles are resolved quickly with the attacker choosing their level of risk. The defenders must be prepared with adequate defensive ships and cards in their tableau.
Black Orchestra is a fully co-operative game where you play as historic figures working inside Hitler's Reich, while secretly plotting to kill him and end the madness you see around you.
You will work together to line up assassination plots, gather resources to carry them out, and roll the dice on risky conspiracy actions that hope to raise the motivation you need, undermine Hitler's support, and maybe provide a slim chance to succeed in killing history's worst villain. Unfortunately you will most often either be caught while committing your act of treason or find that your suspicious actions have led the Gestapo to imprison you and your co-conspirators first.
Don't let the cute art fool you, Root is a strategic and mean asymmetrical war game. Pick one of 10 completely unique factions as you vie for control of clearings. The game can be played from 3-6 players (4 recommended) and the first to 30 victory points wins.

In this colossal game, players lead their historic civilization as they gain victory points by expanding their population, building cities, trading and developing their knowledge and culture. Notwithstanding its large scope, the game's core mechanics are straightforward and easy to learn. A key element in the game is player interaction as they position themselves on the map board and search for valuable commodities during interactive trading sessions.

Because it is such a short game, this event will include multiple games of toy battles!
On your turn in Toy Battle, you either draw two toy troops or place a troop on the board and apply its effect. When a place a troop, you can place it on an empty base, a base that you control, a base that the enemy controls with a lower-valued troop than the one you're placing, or the enemy's headquarters; however, in all cases you must place on a location that has a continuous path to your own headquarters through bases that you occupy, that is, that have your troop on top. If you occupy bases that form a continuous path around a region, you claim the medals within this region.

Ethnos is a fantasy themed set collection area control game. In Ethnos, players call upon the support of giants, merfolk, halflings, minotaurs, and other fantasy tribes to help them gain control of the land. After three ages of play, whoever has collected the most glory wins!
In more detail, the land of Ethnos contains twelve tribes of fantasy creatures, and in each game you choose six of them (five in a 2/3-player game), then create a deck with only the creatures in those tribes. The cards come in six colors, which match the six regions of Ethnos. Place three glory tokens in each region at random, arranging them from low to high.
Each player starts the game with one card in hand, then 4-12 cards (double the number of players) are placed face up on the table. On a turn, a player either recruits an ally or plays a band of allies. In the former case, you take a face-up card (without replacing it from the deck) or the top card of the deck and add it to your hand. In the latter case, you choose a set of cards in your hand that match either in tribe or in color, play them in front of you on the table, then discard all other cards in hand. You then place one token in the region that matches the color of the top card just played, and you use the power of the tribe member on the top card just played.
At the end of the first age, whoever has the most tokens in a region scores the glory shown on the first token. After the second age, the players with the most and second most tokens score glory equal to the values shown on the first and second tokens respectively. Players score similarly after the third age, then whoever has the most glory wins. (Games with two and three players last only two ages.)

In Cosmic Encounter, each player becomes the leader of one of dozens of alien races, each with its own unique power. On a player's turn, he or she becomes the offense. The offense encounters another player on a planet by moving a group of his or her ships through the hyperspace gate to that planet. Both sides can invite allies and play cards to try and tip the encounter in their favor.
The object of the game is for players to establish colonies in other players' planetary systems by landing their ships on the other players' planets. Battlestar Galactica is a semi-cooperative game for 3–6 players. Players play as one of ten possible characters, classed as 'Political Leaders', 'Military Leaders', 'Pilots', or 'Support', each character having benefits and drawbacks. Player are secretly dealt one loyalty card at the start of the game which determines whether the players are human or Cylon and therefore whether they win or lose if the humans achieve their goal. Simulating the activation of a sleeper agent in the television series who did not realise she was a Cylon, players draw a second card midway through, which may turn them to the Cylon side. A hidden Cylon player can covertly disrupt the humans' plans, meaning that, for the humans, deducing who is secretly an enemy agent is a critical part of the game. Players can send suspected Cylons to Galactica's brig and a revealed Cylon can still be disruptive after returning to their home fleet via the Resurrection Ship.

I'm a fan of night to medium board games, that clock in around the hour mark. However, my all time favourite is Inis, followed by Battlestar Galactica. I also enjoy roll'n'write, and abstract. Outside of Tabletop, I love drawing, writing, animation and relaxing with my kids.
A semi-cooperative negotiation game with a possible traitor in the Android (cyberpunk-esque) universe. We each run a corporation that is contracted by the US Government to run part of the city of New Angeles, which is on the equator and hosts a trillion-dollar space elevator. If we keep the city running, we keep our contracts. But if the city descends into chaos, the Government pulls our contracts and we all lose. But one player may be secretly aligned with the feds trying to backstab us so we all lose. And, we each have a secret rival we're trying to earn more capital than to win. So we're working together... but only as much as necessary.
In this award-winning game, players take on the roles of Grandes in medieval Spain. The king's power is flagging, and these powerful lords are vying for control of the various regions. To that end, you draft caballeros (knights) into your court and subsequently move them onto the board to help seize control of regions. After every third round, the regions are scored, and after the ninth round, the player with the most points is the winner. In each of the nine rounds, you select one of your 13 power cards to determine turn order as well as the number of caballeros you get to move from the provinces (general supply) into your court (personal supply). New players welcome.

The bees have discovered economics. The queens believe that if they sell honey to the bears, badgers, and woodland creatures, they will find peace and prosperity. Spring has arrived and it's time to build the hive, find nectar, make honey, and, for the first time ever, set up shop.
Honey Buzz is a worker bee placement game where players expand a personal beehive by drafting various honeycomb tiles that grant actions that are triggered throughout the game. Each tile represents a different action. Whenever a tile is laid so that it completes a certain pattern, a ring of actions is triggered in whatever order the player chooses. A tile drafted on turn one could be triggered up to three times at any point during the game. It all depends on how the player places their beeples (bee+meeple) and builds their hive. After all, in the honey business, efficiency is queen.
As you continually expand your hive, you'll forage for nectar and pollen, make honey, sell different varieties at the bear market, host honey tastings, and attend to the queen and her court. There's only so much nectar to go around, and finding it won't be easy. Players will have to scout out the nectar field and pay attention to other players searches to try to deduce the location of the nectar they need for themselves.
Locomotive Werks is an economic game in which players purchase the ability to produce engines, pay workers to produce them, and sell to the volatile, dice-driven market.
Play as a divine being who has sired a demigod in the realm of humankind. The identity of your lineage is known only to you. Use positional play to complete quests—and influence fate to ensure the outcome is in your favor. Strike the perfect balance of misdirection and mischief to capture the throne.
There are 9 Demigods. At the beginning of the game, each player is secretly assigned one Demigod as their offspring. When the game begins, however, players may control the actions of any Demigod, not just their own. Through strategic play, special powers, and secret voting, players must aid their Demigod in gaining Renown. But be careful! Giving away your lineage too soon may cause the other players to work together toward your Demigod’s demise.
End the evening with a relaxed word-game cooldown!
If you were going to head back to your hotel to get in a daily Wordle before bed, come try this game! It's Wordle, but where the sneaky Lie-brarian will try to mislead players, who work co-operatively to provide guesses, by swapping correct/false/wrong place clues.
This game usually includes a timer, but I will not enforce this unless the group wants it. This game is also played over multiple rounds with each player getting chance to try out the Lie-brarian - I believe 1.5 hours will give us time to play multiple rounds even without strictly sticking to the timer times. Feel free to come and go as table-space allows :)
