Western Canada’s Largest Tabletop Gaming Convention! Join us March 14-16, 2025, at the Vancouver Convention Centre - East (aka Canada Place) in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
The Quiet Year is a collaborative story-telling game by a local trans author - we take turns pulling prompt cards from a deck and drawing/updating our shared map. We all share ownership of a post-collapse settlement struggling for stability, and the leaders of the community (shared characters held loosely). We determine the threats (internal and external), and the projects to secure resources to survive. The seasons pass and resources and threats wax and wane; sometime during the winter the Frost Shepherds will arrive, ending the game and threatening all we've built.
Pensive tone - a game with a big heart. No DM, collaborative and equal. No prescribed setting beyond the post-collapse small settlement - we choose genre and setting, major landscape features. Tends towards a serious tone with themes of want/scarcity/threat - we play to explore themes of community under pressure. Easily understood rules we'll read together.
Safety tools: lines and veils, x card, pause/rewind. Serious themes means we have to be more kind and gentle with each other.
Fall of Magic is a group storytelling game played on a beautiful fabric scroll map with metal coins.
Our characters will grow and change as we journey together. We all also occasionally take turns playing the Magus: the powerful being we are all accompanying to the land of Umbra (where magic was born), because magic is in trouble!
We will each take turns setting small scenes based on chosen short prompts and explore deep themes - tends to the philosophical and dramatic. Think: Lord of the Rings travel sequences without any battle sequences.
Don't be worried about the storytelling part, they're short scenes that will slowly create/reveal our characters' histories and characteristics, no need for anything prewritten at all!
Ages 13+ - tends to have some more adult themes like death. We'll be using some baked in safety features in this game, mostly standard ones - we take turns reading the short rules at the start of the game. No GM but I'll be facilitating.
In the centre of the multiverse, the city of Troika, there is a goblin-run interdimensional mail system. You are a group of adventurers who have been hired by a patron to retrieve a package from the depths of the mess of the post office - if you can.
Zany hijinx, weird random happenings, sci-fantasy heist. Random character creation - you will likely be a strange thing with weird abilities, or a play on an archetypal adventurer (roll to find out who you're playing). Easy to learn system we can learn together. I will bring colouring pencils and some printouts to colour - optional but fun.
Safety tools: expectation of Saturday-morning cartoon violence and light frights, X-card and pause, rewind. No adult themes beyond humorous bureaucratism, please.
