Dominant Species FULL
Friday March 14, 2025 15:30 - 19:30 PDT
Each player will assume the role of one of six major animal classes—mammal, reptile, bird, amphibian, arachnid, or insect. Each begins the game more or less in a state of natural balance in relation to one another. But that won’t last: It is indeed "survival of the fittest".
Through wily action pawn placement, players will strive to become dominant on as many different terrain tiles as possible in order to claim powerful card effects. Players will also want to propagate their individual species in order to earn victory points for their particular animal. Players will be aided in these endeavors via speciation, migration, and adaptation actions, among others.

This game will ONLY run with 5 or 6 players.

Friday March 14, 2025 15:30 - 19:30 PDT
This is my favorite game and I'd like to teach it!

It's a worker placement / deckbuilding hybrid with medium complexity. The actions are simple enough: Play a card with an icon matching a location, then go to that location and take the action, gaining rewards in whatever order you choose. When you run out of workers or "agents" reveal the remaining cards in your hand to the table, and calculate the buying power on the cards to purchase new cards from a market.

Molly House FULL
Friday March 14, 2025 18:30 - 20:30 PDT
This game just came out so let's get it played!

In Molly House, players take the roles of the gender-defying mollies of early eighteenth century London. Throw grand masquerades and cruise back alleys while evading moralistic constables who seek to destroy your community. Be careful, there may even be informers in your midst!

Over the course of an hour, players will draft hands of vice cards representing the different gestures, desires, and encounters that were frowned upon by the Society for the Reformation of Manners, a citizen group that sought to stamp out any behavior it deemed deviant in late 17th and early 18th century London. These cards allow players to host festivities with the help of their fellow mollies and create joy. But, those same cards can also lead players to be arrested and to the ultimate ruin of the molly house.

As players encounter the Society’s enforcers, they will often have to pay bribes or may be coerced into becoming informers for the Society. Informers must try desperately to undermine the community around Mother Clap’s Molly House without being discovered by their fellow mollies.

Sagrada - Learn to Play FULL
Friday March 14, 2025 21:00 - 23:00 PDT
Draft dice and use the tools-of-the-trade in Sagrada to carefully construct your stained glass window masterpiece.

In more detail, each player builds a stained glass window by building up a grid of dice on their player board. Each board has some restrictions on which color or shade (value) of die can be placed there. Dice of the same shade or color may never be placed next to each other. Dice are drafted in player order, with the start player rotating each round, snaking back around after the last player drafts two dice. Scoring is variable per game based on achieving various patterns and varieties of placement...as well as bonus points for dark shades of a particular hidden goal color.

Special tools can be used to help you break the rules by spending skill tokens; once a tool is used, it then requires more skill tokens for the other players to use them.

The highest scoring window artisan wins!

Netrunner - Learn to Play LIMITED
Saturday March 15, 2025 09:30 - 17:00 PDT
This is a learn to play event!

Netrunner is a two-player asymmetric card game set in a dystopian future where four mega corporations control almost every aspect of daily life. Legendary hackers known as “runners” aim to fight the corps’ influence by hacking into their servers and preventing them from advancing their sinister agendas.

In Netrunner, one player takes the role of the Corp, whose tools include corporate assets and defensive programs called “ice”. Using tools like these and the element of surprise, the Corp aims to advance their agendas to completion. Across the table, the Runner‘s objective is to infiltrate the Corp’s servers and steal their agendas, and they’ll draw on their resources, specialty hardware, and programs to do so. Of course, the Runner is no threat if they’re dead, so a canny Corp may also attempt to “flatline” their opponent through damage—while the Runner’s secondary path to victory is stalling the Corp long enough that they run out of opportunities.

Can the Runner see through the Corp’s bluffs and emerge victorious from their netspace siege, or will the Corp tighten their grip upon the world? Find out by playing Netrunner.

BattleTech Learn to Play - Grinder by Catalyst LIMITED
Saturday March 15, 2025 10:00 - 11:00 PDT
Join us for a Battletech Grinder event, an event which historically is the most popular Battletech event the Catalyst Demo Team runs at GenCon, Origins and many other conventions around the world.

The Battletech Grinder is a casual all-day event and is great for all ability levels where players only pilot one mech at a time. Due to the nature of the event, players can join in, or drop out at any time without disrupting the event, so if you only want to play for a couple of hours and then move on to something else, it's not an issue.

The general idea of the Grinder is that players start with a simple, randomly-assigned small mech that uses basic weapons and rules in a free-for-all style gladiatorial match of Battlemech mayhem. When their mech is destroyed they get randomly-assigned a bigger, better mech that has slightly more complicated weapons and rules, which help ramp the player's learning of the rules and tactics of Battletech in a manageable way, and then thrown back into the carnage! This way new players are introduced to the vast rules of tabletop Battletech over time. Once a player has advanced to the highest class of mech, should they get destroyed again, they start the cycle all over again with a new randomly-assigned basic mech, continuing on in the never-ending slaughterfest.

All supplies will be provided by the Catalyst Demo Team, including miniatures, maps/terrain, dice, record sheets and pencils.

Game of Thrones: The Card Game - Second Edition, Joust FILLING
Saturday March 15, 2025 10:00 - 12:00 PDT
Game of Thrones: The Card Game is a two-player asymmetric card game, where you play as your favourite GOT house, drafting characters and revealing plots to win challenges, gain power and defeat your opponent, while trying to keep your characters alive for one more round.

We’ll be playing Joust, the two-player version, and Second Edition.

The game is played over a series of head-to-head rounds, where you’ll draft and recruit characters, reveal plot cards, and then attack and defend a series of challenges until one person is declared the victor. It’s a strategy-heavy game, where your resource economy is pretty low, so every choice you make can win or lose the game.

This session is open to all experience levels. If you’re a GOT master, amazing! If you’ve never played before, even better! The mechanics are pretty simple (it’s choosing what to do with your cards that’s the hard part), and if you’ve ever played an asymmetrical card game like Magic before, you’ll pick it up in no time.

GOT Card Game is also a LCG, so building your deck outside of gameplay is a big part of the fun once you’ve got the hang of it. So feel free to bring your own deck if you have one, or you can use one of our 8 pre-built house decks and give it a go.

Arcs FULL
Saturday March 15, 2025 10:00 - 12:30 PDT
Arcs is a sharp, tactical space opera game, for 2–4 players, set in a dark yet silly universe. Players represent officials from a distant, decaying and neglectful Empire who are now free to vie for dominance whether through battle, gathering scarce resources or diplomatic intrigue. Ready yourself for dramatic twists and turns as you launch into this galactic struggle.

A deck of cards in 4 suits with ranks from 1-7 (2-6 for less than 4 players) defines the action selection system. These cards are played in a trick-taking adjacent system to select actions, take the initiative and declare Ambitions. The 3 declared Ambitions are what will score in that deal. Timing is everything. Bad hands must be mitigated by careful card play and benefitting from other players' card play.

Battles are resolved quickly with the attacker choosing their level of risk. The defenders must be prepared with adequate defensive ships and cards in their tableau.

Arcs: The Blighted Reach Campaign – Forge Your Legacy Among the Stars
The Blighted Reach Campaign expands Arcs into an epic, multi-session experience where your choices shape the fate of the galaxy. This modular campaign introduces branching narratives, evolving player powers, and a rich tapestry of political intrigue, military conflict, and galactic ambition.
As the empire crumbles, will you seize power, rally the remnants, or exploit the chaos for your own gain? Each session builds on the last, with past victories (and betrayals) echoing into the future. No two campaigns play the same, ensuring endless replayability and emergent storytelling. This is one of my favorite games of all times!

Arcs is a sharp, tactical space opera game set in a dark yet silly universe. Players represent officials from a distant, decaying and neglectful Empire who are now free to vie for dominance whether through battle, gathering scarce resources or diplomatic intrigue.

This is one of the hottest games released last year. I've never played it, so I thought I'd take out the library copy and give it a try. I will read through the rules and/or watch a how-to-play video prior to our playthrough. If you are familiar with the game, you're welcome to teach it. But one player may be secretly aligned with the feds trying to backstab us so we all lose. And, we each have a secret rival we're trying to earn more capital than to win. There are 9 Demigods. At the beginning of the game, each player is secretly assigned one Demigod as their offspring. When the game begins, however, players may control the actions of any Demigod, not just their own. Through strategic play, special powers, and secret voting, players must aid their Demigod in gaining Renown. But be careful! Giving away your lineage too soon may cause the other players to work together toward your Demigod’s demise.

BattleTech Learn to Play - Grinder by Catalyst LIMITED
Sunday March 16, 2025 10:00 - 11:00 PDT

Game of Thrones: The Card Game - Second Edition, Joust LIMITED
Sunday March 16, 2025 10:00 - 12:00 PDT

Take on the role of one of many globe-trotting investigators as you curse and cheer your (miss)fortune as you roll lots of dice on your quest to solve the mysteries of the cosmos.

Kinda like a mini RPG but role-playing is not necessary (it can be fun though if you want to).

BattleTech Learn to Play - Grinder by Catalyst LIMITED
Sunday March 16, 2025 11:00 - 12:00 PDT

I'm a fan of night to medium board games, that clock in around the hour mark. However, my all time favourite is Inis, followed by Battlestar Galactica. I also enjoy roll'n'write, and abstract. Outside of Tabletop, I love drawing, writing, animation and relaxing with my kids.

Trick taking games: VIVO and/or Ugly Christmas Sweaters FULL
Sunday March 16, 2025 12:30 - 13:30 PDT
Play 1 or 2 trick taking game depends on time.

The 1st one is VIVO: Puppies dream of joining the prestigious "VIVO Puppy Choir". You are a music school teacher who raises such puppies. Today is the day of the long-awaited entrance exam. In this year's entrance exam, puppies with "energetic, loud singing voices" and "small, cute singing voices" will be evaluated. VIVO is a trick-taking game where the follow format changes every trick!

The 2nd one is Ugly Christmas Sweaters: In Ugly Christmas Sweaters, players compete against each other through trick-taking and drafting to collect and assemble sweater pieces. Various gameplay cards (which are drawn at the start of each round) determine gameplay and bonus scoring. The end of a round is triggered when a player completes three sweater builds. At the end of each round, victory points are awarded based on sweaters built and bonus scoring (points for sweaters following round-specific goals and hidden objectives). Build your sweaters quickly!

In Lorenzo il Magnifico, each player takes the role of the head of a noble family in a city during the Italian Renaissance to gain more prestige and fame — that is, victory points (VP) — than anyone else. To do so, you send your family members to different areas of town, where they can obtain many achievements. In one location, they get useful resources; in another, development cards that represent newly conquered territories, sponsored buildings, influenced characters, or encouraged ventures; and somewhere else they activate the effects of their cards.
Family members are not identical. At the beginning of each round, you roll three dice to determine their value. You must choose carefully where to send your most valuable family members. Learners are welcome.
