Merv: The Heart of the Silk Road LIMITED
Sunday March 16, 2025 09:30 - 12:00 PDT
Merv: The Heart of the Silk Road is an economic game charting the rise and fall of the greatest city in the world.
In Merv, players are vying to amass power and wealth in the prosperous heart of the Silk Road. Through careful court intrigue, timely donations to the grand mosque, and favorable trade deals, players attempt to redirect as much of that prosperity as possible into their own pockets.
Meanwhile, beyond the city walls Mongol hordes approach. If you help construct the city walls, you give up on precious opportunities to build up your own stature, but leave it unprotected and you will burn with the city. Every decision is weighty and the consequences of each misstep are dire. Will you rise to prominence or fade into oblivion? Learners are welcome.

BattleTech Learn to Play - Grinder by Catalyst LIMITED
Sunday March 16, 2025 10:00 - 11:00 PDT
Join us for a Battletech Grinder event, an event which historically is the most popular Battletech event the Catalyst Demo Team runs at GenCon, Origins and many other conventions around the world.

The Battletech Grinder is a casual all-day event and is great for all ability levels where players only pilot one mech at a time. Due to the nature of the event, players can join in, or drop out at any time without disrupting the event, so if you only want to play for a couple of hours and then move on to something else, it's not an issue.

The general idea of the Grinder is that players start with a simple, randomly-assigned small mech that uses basic weapons and rules in a free-for-all style gladiatorial match of Battlemech mayhem. When their mech is destroyed they get randomly-assigned a bigger, better mech that has slightly more complicated weapons and rules, which help ramp the player's learning of the rules and tactics of Battletech in a manageable way, and then thrown back into the carnage! This way new players are introduced to the vast rules of tabletop Battletech over time. Once a player has advanced to the highest class of mech, should they get destroyed again, they start the cycle all over again with a new randomly-assigned basic mech, continuing on in the never-ending slaughterfest.

All supplies will be provided by the Catalyst Demo Team, including miniatures, maps/terrain, dice, record sheets and pencils.

Game of Thrones: The Card Game - Second Edition, Joust LIMITED
Sunday March 16, 2025 10:00 - 12:00 PDT
Game of Thrones: The Card Game is a two-player asymmetric card game, where you play as your favourite GOT house, drafting characters and revealing plots to win challenges, gain power and defeat your opponent, while trying to keep your characters alive for one more round.

We’ll be playing Joust, the two-player version, and Second Edition.

The game is played over a series of head-to-head rounds, where you’ll draft and recruit characters, reveal plot cards, and then attack and defend a series of challenges until one person is declared the victor. It’s a strategy-heavy game, where your resource economy is pretty low, so every choice you make can win or lose the game.

This session is open to all experience levels. If you’re a GOT master, amazing! If you’ve never played before, even better! The mechanics are pretty simple (it’s choosing what to do with your cards that’s the hard part), and if you’ve ever played an asymmetrical card game like Magic before, you’ll pick it up in no time.

GOT Card Game is also a LCG, so building your deck outside of gameplay is a big part of the fun once you’ve got the hang of it. So feel free to bring your own deck if you have one, or you can use one of our 8 pre-built house decks and give it a go.

Players will take turns captaining a space ship, rolling a shrinking number of dice as they attempt to travel as far along the celestial track as possible. After each roll, any of the players on the ship can choose to get off, but the further you get, the more points you can earn.

MLEM is relatively lightweight and is a ton of fun for everyone involved. If you like gambling, or if you're the kind of person to shout, "Please, anything but a one!" as you roll the dice, this is a game for you.

It's a worker placement / deckbuilding hybrid with medium complexity. The actions are simple enough: Play a card with an icon matching a location, then go to that location and take the action, gaining rewards in whatever order you choose. When you run out of workers or "agents" reveal the remaining cards in your hand to the table, and calculate the buying power on the cards to purchase new cards from a market.

BattleTech Learn to Play - Grinder by Catalyst LIMITED
Sunday March 16, 2025 15:00 - 16:00 PDT

Wolves FULL
Sunday March 16, 2025 15:00 - 17:30 PDT
Wolves is a semi-cooperative board game. You take on the role of a community leader attempting to manage limited resources to help get your people through the winter. To survive, you need to co-operate and share through the gifting of what you've gathered and grown, which will dwindle as you head toward winter.

Sunday March 16, 2025 16:30 - 17:30 PDT
End your con on a high note with a fun and rowdy party game that's simple to learn, but luck-of-the-draw to master. The OP games' sleeper agent of the year (in my humble opinion) will have you hitting or passing cards, blackjack-style in hopes of flipping 7 before you bust and lose everything.

7 seats available for this session!
