Concordia Venus is a peaceful strategy game of economic development in Ancient Rome. Colonists are sent out to settle down in cities that produce bricks, food, tools, wine, and cloth. Each player starts with an identical set of playing cards and acquires more cards during the game. These cards allow a player to choose actions during the game and are also worth victory points. Concordia is a medium-weight strategy game that requires advance planning and consideration of your opponent's moves.

Reiner Knizia's most famous auction game, where players bid for sets of Egyptian artifacts and societal resources in order to attain the highest score over three epochs. Each player draws tiles in sequence until a red "Ra" tile is drawn or a player "invokes Ra", signalling an auction. Use your 3 bidding tiles wisely, as you must take all tiles up for auction if you win and a new bidding tile for the next epoch.

Arcs is a sharp, tactical space opera game set in a dark yet silly universe. Players represent officials from a distant, decaying and neglectful Empire who are now free to vie for dominance whether through battle, gathering scarce resources or diplomatic intrigue.

This is one of the hottest games released last year. I've never played it, so I thought I'd take out the library copy and give it a try. I will read through the rules and/or watch a how-to-play video prior to our playthrough. If you are familiar with the game, you're welcome to teach it. If we're all beginners, we can figure it out together.
